We just had our fourth session on Wednesday, July 23. We met from 12:00 – 1:00 pm with management, and then caucused from 1:00 - 3:00 pm. The County came in with a comprehensive counter proposal, and the Union was able to provide a comprehensive counter proposal that afternoon. Today’s session was incredibly productive and we were able to reach tentative agreements on a number of issues.
Those were:
1. Updating the retirement language to comply with current IMRF requirements;
2. Pre-Disciplinary Meeting notification language;
3. Video Display Terminal/Cathode Ray Testing language;
4. Bereavement Leave;
5. Craftsmen boot allowance;
6. Land Use boot allowance;
7. Sheriff Civilian Food Service Workers Cooks/Head Cooks shoe/boot allowance;
8. Facilities Boot Allowance (NEW Allowance);
Management dropped a number of proposals today that the Union had previously rejected. The Union modified some initial proposals, and held to others. We are moving closer on wages and insurance, but there is still a gap to overcome. Again, the tone has been collegial, and both parties are working well together towards the goal of achieving a new contract.
We have two more bargaining sessions on the books. Those are August 18th and August 26th. Please look for more updates around that time.
In Solidarity,
Your Local 1028 Bargaining Team
